Ron Paul, the people's choice?

By Libby

This is an interesting development. ABC News has a poll up asking for the viewers' assessment on the winners of the Republican debate and Ron Paul runs away with the tally with over 21,000 votes. The next closest pick is "It doesn't matter because I would rather die than have another Republican president," coming in at 1,800 and in the rest of the field only Romney and Guiliani managed to barely beat "none of the above" in the 350 range.

So why isn't this making news?

And yet the GOP wants to kick him off the stage. They are so scared of critical thinking.

[Comment cross-posted at The Reaction too! Need to spread the love around.]

^justin raimondo, chronicler of the "old right" and openly gay pat buchanan supporter has a rundown on the schism Paul is causing in some circles. modern conservatives are a very cynical bunch. They have love in their hearts for goldwater and reagan, but feel like there are different rules these days.

As far as the press, again, i say let them ignore Ron paul. It only confirms how obsolete the beltway is. All the major candidates are playing it super safe and so is the press. if that's what you want watch hardball as usual. personally, I'm not intersted in the difference between benchmarks and timetables.

LOL Creature. I rewrote the post for the DetNews too. I think that's a pretty big story, even if it is an unscientific poll.

Maybe the Paul supporters freeped the poll but it still shows he has some significant support.

Lester, the Paul campaign should be paying you for spreading the word so well.

thom woods of "politically incorrect guide to american history" infamy, had a good one

"Ron Paul violated one of the most consistently observed rules of American political life in the GOP debate in South Carolina the other night: government officials are never, ever to level with the American population. The people are to be endlessly flattered, spoken to in bumper-sticker slogans, and in general treated like seven-year-olds."

not coincidentally, ron paul has a quote on the sleeve of "the politically incorrect guide to capitalism" part of the "PIG" series. as he notes, it's a great introduction to free market economics.
