Rod Serling rocks my world

They ran a Twilight Zone marathon on New Year's Eve into New Year's day. I caught a few episodes. I'd forgotten how hot Rod Serling was and how politically left he dared to be on the show. This from the end of the episode called "Obsolete" knocked me out.
The chancellor, the late chancellor, was only partly correct. He was obsolete, but so is the State, the entity he worshipped. Any state, any entity, any ideology that fails to recognize the worth, the dignity, the rights of man, that state is obsolete. A case to be filed under "M" for mankind—in the Twilight Zone.
Still so timely today. I miss that kind of creative courage.
