Save Habeas Corpus

Sorry about the light posting for the last couple of days. Exhaustion finally caught up with me and I just had to sleep - a lot. But I'm looking at a couple of days off so regular posting should resume apace. In any event, while I'm catching up on the news, here's something you can do right now to save habe.
My DD has the links and contact info for the appropriate Congress creatures who have an opportunity to add an amendment restoring habeas as a countermeasure to the Bush administration having destroyed itwith some secret amendment last year. The Dems apparently have the votes but are weighing political considerations on whether to have the fight right now.
Screw that. Contact the idiots and tell them you put them back into power to fix what the White House has broken and not to play politics. Of course, don't put it quite that way. It usually works better if you're polite. Let them know if they have the votes, you want to them to use them and put this on the table while they can.
Update: Glenn Greenwald fleshes out the arguments in favor of immediate Democratic action.

the bush logic is that we are no longer the united states. we are the co operative empire of US-israel. So there is no point holding on to habeaus corpus, as it will do nithing but endanger us. As an empire we have too many enemies to waste time with humanity. it's too idealistic.
I don't know about that Lester, but clearly Bush has no use for habe. It would only get in the way of his royal decisions.
but why does he want to make decisions that go against the constitution? because he wants to pursue empire.
stalin was a dictator, but he wanted to establish communism in russia first and have other countries gradually turn communist. trotskty wanted to spread communism worldwide. Bush is Trostsky, not stalin. IN fact, many of the neo cons are literally admirers of leon trotsky and we full time socialists in the past.
I pretty convinced at this point Bush has no ideology beyond getting through his term without having to admit he royally fucked up the Middle East.
