The NYT runs down the list of White House assaults on the rule of law and notes well that the conventional "wisdom" circulating in DC that the Democrats should pull a Nixon, and "look forward" in their agenda.

This is a false choice. Dealing with these issues is not about the past. The administration’s assault on some of the nation’s founding principles continues unabated. If the Democrats were to shirk their responsibility to stop it, that would make them no better than the Republicans who formed and enabled these policies in the first place.

Damn straight. We hired the Democratic Party to deal with what's wrong, right now. If we wanted legislators who "think about that tomorrow" we would have elected Scarlett O'Hara.
