Bush needs a new game plan
This morning's WaPo reports that the White House rescue efforts have begun in earnest - to save Michael Brown's sorry butt. They're deploying their apologists and dissemblers, armed with Rovian talking points to shift the blame for an at best inefficient and at worst criminally negligent, response to a national emergency onto "the locals." Tom DeLay told us on CNN last night that this was a failure of bottom-up bureaucracy, stating essentially that it was Blanco and Nagin's fault for not asking for help. That lie has been exposed over and over again, with irrefutable proof, yet the WaPo tells us ordinary Republicans are buying it.
Well that's not what I'm hearing on the street and on the discussion boards. There's a lot of newly minted so called Bush-bashers out there, many of whom were staunch supporters until now. So where are they polling these Republicans, at FEMA HQ?
Meanwhile, the White House defense team charges critics are using this tragedy to score political points. Last I looked calling for accountability on gross incompetence is not partisan and if Team Bush want to restore their credibility I suggest they start protecting the citzenry instead of their political crony system. It's time to lose one for the Gipper. "Brownie"-nose has got to go.
