Arlen Specter and No Confidence
Today Arlen Specter R-Pa claimed that he would vote that he had no confidence in Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.
Well, of course it's being done to embarrass Bush, but it's a big waste of time. Bush doesn't care and neither should anyone else. A lot of work needs to be done and this is pure political bullshit.
What do they hope to accomplish? Force Gonzales to resign? Why would he? He has the confidence of the President and Bush is locked in his bunker and holding on to anyone on his side.
Do they really think this will embarrass Bush? Have you looked at the disaster his presidency has become? If he isn't embarrassed by now this little problem sure won't do it
I'll tell you who I have no confidence in, Arlen Specter. What a big disappointment this guy is. He came across as a true moderate but after his contested election in 2004 and his comment about abortion that almost cost him his Judiciary Committee chairmanship he is all thunder but no lightning.
He has a recent history of acting all upset about the Bush Administration's repeated attacks on civil liberties, but then voting the way Bush expects. The attack on and suspension of habeas corpus is a prime example.
Do I have confidence in Alberto Gonzales? Absolutely. I have confidence he will do whatever Bush tells him to do, the Constitution be damned. He will further do whatever he thinks Bush would want him to do and the Constitution be damned.
Do I have any confidence in Arlen Specter? No.

"If you ask Arlen Specter, do I have confidence in Attorney General Gonzales, the answer is a resounding no," Specter said during a news conference in Philadelphia. "I'm going to vote that I have no confidence in Attorney General Gonzales."He voiced his concerns in making this decision by stating that he was afraid that the no confidence vote in the Senate was being done to embarrass George Bush.

Or Arlen Specter, even.
Sometimes, I type faster than I think. Make that most of the time. The problem is, I'm a slow typist.
Thanks
