Winger 101: Keeping the lies alive

By Libby

The GOP seems to have learned their current style of politicking from my dear departed friend Acidman who used to describe his blogging style as "throwing a bunch of shit against the wall and seeing what sticks." How better to describe the Republicans ongoing campaign of spreading false smears against Nancy Pelosi? Lies and dubious innuendos that until now have been dutifully "reported" by the press as if they were actual news or -- you know -- facts or something.

Finally, today we have a MSM outlet that sets the record straight. The San Francisco Chronicle posts a laundry list of the GOP's entirely false allegations and pays special attention to the latest smear noting, "Those making the charge, the Republican Study Committee, a group of 100 conservative GOP House members, admit they don't have evidence of wrongdoing, just suspicions they want debated."

I already blogged on this at the Detroit News so I won't repeat those points here, but I thought the reliably shrill Sister Toldjah's response was revealing. This is how the wingers deal with uncomfortable facts.
The liberal SF Chronicle lovingly steps in to defend and sweep aside any allegations of ethical problems/corruption on the part of one of their liberal heros, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The GOP attacking til “something sticks” is the gist of the article. Well, things would “stick” if news outlets like the SF Chronicle wouldn’t keep carrying her water for her.

Move along here, nothing to see.
That's it. Her whole post. In other words, under no circumstances should her readers check out the evidence for themselves, they should just believe the lies she dutifully parrots for the party. I almost feel sorry for her. It's a real bitch when your guys confess to the crime, instead it Sistah?

Hi Libby, is Acidman "departed"? His blog is current. What is the story? Please let me know.

He died almost a year ago Brian. The blog is being kept up by a few friends and his daughter but they're posting archived stuff. But it does go to show what a great blogger Rob was, that his work still feels timely.

Yup, see that now. I knew he fell ill but didn't read him for a while. He wrote some great stuff and I enjoyed it. Will miss him.
Thanks Libby
