When corruption pays -- double

This is just mind boggling. William Jefferson easily gets reelected in a runoff election. What is it about a freezer full of cash that the voters don't understand? Innocent until proven guilty and all that but come on, sometimes the corruption is just so obvious you don't really need to wait for the verdict to figure out the crime. What is it with voters who return obviously corrupt politicians like Jefferson, Mollohan and Byrd to office time and time again?

This doesn't do any good for anyone. Not for the Democratic party and certainly not for our system of government. We'll never end corruption in Congress if the voters keep rewarding them for it.

It must be that many people vote on name recognition alone.

Voter: Wahl, Ah don't know who John Doe is, but Ah recognize this guy - Satan. Yeah Ah knows him.

*votes for Satan*

You didn't here it from me, but the jefferson thing was not waht it appeared. the FBI is not going to bust a senator because of 90,000 dollars. they were merely laying the groundwork for future, bigger fish. You'll recall the hubub from hastert and co over this bust. it wasn't because they really liked jefferson alot.

Aw Lester, don't tease me with visions of a Hastert indictment. Which is not to say that I not waiting for Abramoff to start taking more of them down. The last thing I read, Black Jack said he had dozens of GOP and a handful of Dems in his pocket.
