Bush sobs and other timely stories

I'm back on the work rotation and had to get up in the dark. The pre-dawn hours are not my best. It's going to be another early call so just a hit and run tonight. This was off the memeorandum at 7:00am.

This one I blogged at the DetNews. Bush the Elder broke down sobbing at public appearance when he was speaking about his son. No not George -- Jeb. At least he was speaking about Jeb. Who knows which one made him cry in public.

Cavuto was screaming at Paul Krugman accusing him of lying about the growing class divide in the country. Maybe Cavuto fancies himself the next Olbermann but he falls far short. Trouble is, Krugman is right. The richest 10% own 85% of world's assets.

In case your memory is as short as the guys over at Powerline, The TPM Muckracker is compiling a list of of corrupt Bush administration officials.

And, oh the humanity. The price of victory is Congress is going to have to start showing up to work again. Wonder how long that will last.

Zero sympathy for the corrupt warmonger and his vile offspring. If he's losing it like Reagan did then that's too bad, but I despise that family with all my soul. Poppy probably cried because he knows deep down how loathsome and terminally wretched his sons really are.

I understand your anger Nolo and I share it. It's not that they're not a vile family, but the older one gets, the easier it to feel some empathy, even for the vile and corrupt. Which is not to say that I don't think the three of them belong in prison.

I find this breakdown rather scary to tell you the truth. If he's so upset he loses his composure in public, just imagine what he must know about what's going on behind the scenes... It gives me chills.

Forgive me if this sounds like armchair psychobabble, but even though I despise the politics of everyone in the Bush clan, I couldn't help be touched when I saw that footage of Geo Sr. lose it when talking about Jeb. From everything that I've seen and read, Sr. and Jeb seem like the more grounded, even (dare I say it) empathetic members of the family. Don't get me wrong, their political beliefs suck, but I've always gotten the impression that the evil genes really come from Barb's side of the family. Do you remember that comment she made at the Astrodome after Katrina? While Jeb and his dad are typical run-of-the-mill conservative Republicans, and I wouldn't vote for them (I held my nose and voted for Dukakis in my first time at the polls), but neither filled me with the sense of dread that W. does. I would be willing to bet that (although no parent would admit to having favorites) that Sr. feels a lot closer to Jeb than with W. This would certainly contribute to the idea that this entire presidency, and the war, are just a desperate attempt to garner dad's approval, or failing that, to out-do him.

But like I said, that's just me spewing psychobabble.

Yerhonor, I think you're pretty much right from what I've read about the family, although I think Sr and Jeb are not quite as benign as all that, neither do they strike me as being the type to explode frogs for fun as W did in his youth. Babs strikes me as narcisstic to the point of psychopathic and the apple of her eye didn't fall from the tree.

Lester, I don't even know who Cavuto is, I don't watch TV much and when I do it's not jerks like that who only raise my blood pressure. Oddly, I'm not a huge fan of Krugman either, mainly because I find him pompous and often a little shallow, but I generally agree with his posts. I would hardly call him a communist.

Well Libby, I can't share any compassion for the family under discussion. Hunter Thompson was right when he said the Bushes should be boiled in oil. From grandpa who banked with Hitler to Poppy with Iran Contra and probably involved with the JFK assasination to Jeb being the governor of the state that stole the 2000 election to Neil being involved in the savings and loan rip off to Marvin doing security at the WTC to Codpiece in the White House, the entire parasitic family has sucked this country dry. I wish them ill. A lot of it.

Well, when you put it that way Nolo, it does sort of erase the momentary lapse of sympathy for the old man. Nonetheless, I don't wish them ill. I figure their karmic load will eventually take the family down on its own.

And unfortunately us with them, probably.
What is up with the heavy preponderance of wingnuts at the web awards? By the way, I voted for you.

There's always a chance of getting caught in the karmic backlash I guess, Nolo.

Thanks for the vote. The awards are based at one of the big conservative sites and its fan base is mostly from wingnuttia. I nominated myself as a joke really. I never expected to make the finalists but they seem to have made an attempt to be a little more inclusive this time around. It used to be all right wing blogs but they changed the format a little after a big kerfluffle a couple of years ago about how it was all just a vehicle to drive Wizbang's traffic if I recall correctly.
