Habeas Corpus to rise from the dead?

This is good news. It appears Habeas Corpus may still have some breath left in its withered body after all. Spector, is apparently bringing forward legislation to restore habe rights that were destroyed in the Military Commissions Act. It was Spector you recall who sold out after putting up a sham fight against the provision when the Act was passed.

Maybe, as has been suggested, he initially sold out to protect his chair of the Judiciary Committee back when the Republic Party still thought they had a chance to retain control of the legislature and now wants to redeem himself. Perhaps he simply had an attack of conscience. Whatever. I'm just glad to see it's being revisited.

There's no chance this constitutional breach will be repaired by the end of the current session, but at least it's on the agenda and the expectation is that the Dems, along with concerned Republicans, will be revisiting the issue in January.
