Bolton bids UN buh-bye
Oh happy day. We can close the book on this ugly chapter of history. I guess Bush isn't quite as detached from reality as we thought. Facing an almost certain loss in the Senate, and perhaps fearing the political fallout from another try at an interim appointment, Bush accepted Bolton's resignation with regret.
I expect the only two people who will really miss him are Bush and Bolton's biggest fan, Pam Atlas. I can't bring myself to link to her, but she's devastated. I wonder who she's going to suck up to next?

Could they push Bolton through (amid another recess)?
Bush could have done that as far as I know, but it seems unlikely now that the hapless jerk has resigned.

Re Greg Wiggle: Yeah I know :( I heard rumours about the announcement a few days ago. From what I hear the guy who plays Professor Singalottasonga is due to take over for him. That being the case I reckon they'll do fine - he's obviously a professionally trained opera singer with an amazing set of pipes on him. He's not bad on the eyes either - or so the girls tell me.
In the middle of the night last night, I had a really bad thought about the Bolton resignation. And...did I keep it to myself? I did not!
And while we're on the subject, "Santorum"? Bwahahahahahahah!
I had that reaction to Santorum too, on all levels. Pam is just doing the echo chamber thing on him though. She truly LOVED her little Boltie.
