Okay. LA just crossed a line into the surveillance society that really scares me. Privately funded police surveillance aimed at specific targets?

The Motion Picture Assn. of America donated $186,000 for the 10 pole-mounted cameras, which will monitor movie piracy activity in the Fashion District. The cameras are similar to those installed around Hollywood Boulevard and MacArthur Park.

This can't be good.
