Bush peddles free trade scam and more to OAS

Organization of American States members met today, for the first time in 31 years in the United States, at a time when Latin America is in utter turmoil. The president, after being rebuffed on hand picking its leadership, is nonetheless expected to push his agenda. How does Scott McLellan deliver lines like this with a straight face.
"Successful democracies are built on free institutions that guarantee transparency and rule of law and accountability. And I imagine the president will talk about that in his remarks."
Bush also has a plan for democracy compliance for the region with a very specific target.
Diplomats suggested Venezuela may have been what Washington had in mind when it proposed the OAS set up a system for monitoring compliance with the organization's Democracy Charter.
Maybe while they're monitoring Chavez, they could have a look at what passes for democracy in this country today.

As soon as Bush gets that "Democracy thing" going in Venezuela, he's going to try it here.
