The banksters cabal
To be clear, despite my skepticism in the post below, I have no doubt that the Wall St. banksters are making extortion demands on our government and the fact that their compatriots are in charge of negotiating a solution to their wholesale looting of the internationl treasury is a serious problem. A point Glenzilla makes today at great length in a post well worth reading. I thought from the beginning that putting the same thieves that caused the problem in charge of Treasury was a mistake. I had hoped to be proven wrong and perhaps it would take a thief to thwart one. Sadly, that seems not to be the case and the necessary steps to breaking up the oligarchy are clearly not being taken.
But the point is, there are many ways to assist the oligarchs in maintaining their power and lifestyle. Since executive compensation is such a contentious issue that even the most uninformed voters are aware and angry about it, circumventing the Congressional intent on limiting pay seems a painfully transparent method. I find it difficult to believe they can't come up with something more subtle.

Keeping the same damn fools in charge that screwed things up is a virus our Country cannot shake Libby. In 2004 the Bush campaign asked to be allowed to fix the mess it created in Iraq. I can think of dozens of examples of this in my own workplace. It even worked as a defense when I was a Union Rep. I kid you not. The guy was grossly negligent and I said that made him the best qualified to fix what he'd done and not do it again. Of course he did something more stupid a few months later nd got fired anyway.
Some crimes of stupidity and arrogance make a second chance a dumb decision. But we are a forgiving people.
Obama is not Bush, Truth. He pays attention. I also think (a) Bush stole the election in 04 with the Diebolds and (b) most people voted for him out of fear of terrorism, not because they thought he screwed up and could fix it. They thought he was going to protect them and *win* the war.
