My message is clear: The United States is ready to lead, and we call upon our partners to join us with a sense of urgency and common purpose. [...]Cue the wingnut Obamamessiah chorus in 5, 4, 3....
But I also know that we need not choose between a chaotic and unforgiving capitalism and an oppressive government-run economy. That is a false choice that will not serve our people or any people. This G-20 meeting provides a forum for a new kind of global economic cooperation.
The nations of the world have a stake in one another, and the United States is ready to join a global effort on behalf of new jobs and sustainable growth.

I thought the article focused a little too much on the US, like we're the great saviors of the world - our plan will work and everyone else should do the same. Maybe our plan will work, but there is certainly a lot about it to not recommend it. Still, it doesn't seem like other countries are doing enough - there's virtually no stimulus in Europe. I'm at least very glad Obama's reaching out. We need as much of that as possible.
I'll be curious to see how it's received in other countries.
It was in 31 papers, btw.
Thanks I'll edit the post. I'll also be curious to see how it's received internationally. A request for help beats the hell out of threats at gunpoint in my book.
It's about time we tried something other than guns.
