North Carolina goes blue

NC just went from gray to blue. At least so the AP declares:
The Associated Press declared Obama the winner Thursday after canvassing counties in North Carolina to determine the number of outstanding provisional ballots. That survey found there are not enough remaining ballots for Republican candidate John McCain to close a 13,693 vote deficit.
However, according to local news accounts the state won't certify the results until Dec 1st and I'm wondering about this report that said "Republican-leaning Rockingham County still has 18,000 votes to count after a glitch at five one-stop polling sites left the results out of the county's total." I guess we can assume the AP took it into account and it amounted to nothing since the provisional ballots that remained uncounted across the state would like be from registered Democrats.

A symbolic victory but a satisfying one nonetheless.

Oh, I don't care what the local rednecks say or do! The national map shows us as blue! It will be much harder now to overturn that verdict. There will be a lot of legal wrangling if they persist and in the end, we will probably still be blue.

I'm going with it. I feel like skipping down the street singing: I live in a blue state, nyah, nyah, we did it. But I guess that would be too obnoxious.

Yeah, that WOULD be obnoxious. I suppose it would be ok to skip around your apt and sing quietly so as not to disturb your nighbors.... :)
