Cross my heart and promise not to die

By now you've probably seen this story. Pushing back against Palin's total ignorance of national and international affairs, the McCain campaign had this to say.
"[Sarah Palin is] going to learn national security at the foot of the master for the next four years, and most doctors think that he'll be around at least that long," said Charlie Black, one of Mr. McCain's top advisers, making light of concerns about Mr. McCain's health, which Mr. McCain's doctors reported as excellent in May.
I love the qualifier "most" in that statement. Is that to imply that there were conflicting opinions? How reassuring.

I would say more but Ana Marie channeled her former Wonkette and provided such tasty snark that you should just go over and read her instead.

The foot of the master?

I just don't know what to say. This is long past being funny, it's scary as hell.

It's scaring me too Fogg. I still think it's going to backfire on him though. She's not ready for prime time and a national campaign isn't anything like a AK gov race.

All it's going to do in the long run is charge up the fundies. I think it will lose him the independents that are sick of the fundie crap.

Apparently early polls show she has a similar confidence rating to Dan Quayle, but of course we elected that dimwit, didn't we?

Is it more important that her first speech contained a major lie: that she opposed the infamous quarter billion dollar bridge, when backing it was part of her campaign for governor? I don't know.

But I don't care. Why should I care about a country that actively seeks its own destruction?

Yeah, I covered that lie at DetNews already and I see the MSM is covering it too now, so that's a start.

As for why we should care, a lot of people are depressed over how stupid a certain subset of the sheeple are. Feh.

Speaking of stupid, Fox news has announced that her ignorance is strength without acknowledging Orwell.

It's come out that Sarah thinks the Founding Fathers wrote the Pledge of Allegiance, God clause and all, and that she's willing to fight for it.

And of course the idea that living in Alaska makes you a foreign policy expert is being bounced around as though it made sense.

Of course since I once ate Belgian waffles at IHOP, I'm the new Kissinger.

Frankly this is the most astonishing development in American history. Maybe it's the end of American history as we know it.

It's been an insane day. I covered all that stuff at DetNews. There's much more today. Turns out she a member of group that wants AK to secede from the union.

And I have a bunch of dirt on her fiscal prudence over there too.

Meanwhile, they're arresting freaking reporters in the Twin Cities. Amy Goodman got bagged and there's video.

And McCain just hired the same guy Bush used to kill him in SC in 2000. And Sarah's lawyered up over the ethics thing.

That curse about interesting times is coming true.

I just saw Brian Ross' coverage of the RNC convention and the litany of lobbyists thereupon. It seems the big money interests are hell-bent on keeping their power by hook-or-by-crook and spinning every stooge who serves as a stand-in for them.

Indeed, this is scarier than I imagined. I have been perusing the conservative blogs to read what they have to say. Result: This election is no longer about mediocrity or denialism. It more like an alternative universe where the only thing that matters is dark matter.

Today, I increased my donation to the Obama to the max allowed by law. If my candidate does not win, it will portend the end of American democracy as I knew it. If my candidate does not win, I intend to leave the country and have already made backup plans. Yes, the situation is that bad, in my opinion.

I hear you SC. This country won't be fit to live in if it comes to that.
