Who Ya Gonna Believe, Me Or Your Own Lying Eyes

Today the White House spun itself into the ground declaring that the protest called for by an Iraqi Shiite leader is a sign of "progress".

White House spokesman Gordon Johndroe told reporters; "is now a place where people can freely gather and express their opinions, and that was something they could not do under Saddam."

Thanking America for giving them freedom of speech they ripped apart American flags and stomped on a Stars and Stripes rug thrown across the road linking the holy cities of Najaf and Kufa.

Johndroe went on to say that the rally called for by Moqtada Al-Sadr was smaller than expected.

But the Associated Press reported this afternoon: "Tens of thousands of Shiites -- a sea of women in black abayas and men waving Iraqi flags -- marched from Kufa to Najaf on Monday, demanding U.S. forces leave their country on the fourth anniversary of fall of Baghdad. Streets in the capital were silent and empty under a hastily imposed 24-hour driving ban.

Johndroe went on to comment that there was still more progress to be made.

Wow! Really? Let's see, what we observe here today; they are exercising freedom of speech, the freedom to assemble, and I guess this is in some way the right to petition the government for redress of grievances.
They sure as hell have the right to keep and bear arms down pat.

This was a rally calling on all Iraqis to fight and kill Americans. This is a positive thing?

We have gone from low expections, to no expectations to less than no expectations.
