Straight-Talk Express Hits A Curve
John McCain today criticized democrats for their anti-war stance and the bill passed that would set timetables for withdrawl from Iraq. McCain went on to say that the war was "necessary and just" although he did not say "just" what it was.
In a quick counter to McCain, Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama challenged the Republican's assessment of improved security in Baghdad and argued that only a change in strategy will bring a responsible end to the conflict.
"What we need today is a surge in honesty," the Illinois senator said in a statement, contending that McCain was measuring progress in Iraq using "the same ideological fantasies" that led the U.S. into war.
Last week in Iraq McCain lost every bit of integrity he had with that ridiculous trip to that Baghdad market. His mouth has always been his worst enemy.
Nothing seems to have changed here. He has staked his entire campaign on Mr. Bush's plan succeeding in Iraq. Is that brilliant or what?
It's better to keep your mouth shut and let everyone think you're an idiot than to open it up and remove all doubt.
