Rove's rat trap

Joe Conason at Salon adds to the speculation on a possible indictment of Rove in the Plame leak noting when the investigation belatedly started under the supervision of long time Rove crony, John Ashcroft, they had no reason to believe it wouldn't simply be swept under the carpet along with the rest of their malfeasance.

It could well be Rove outright lied to the orginal FBI investigators thinking Johnny would make it go away. And of course there's the little remarked Jeff Gannon connection. Wouldn't that be the most delicious irony if it was loverboy Bulldog who took them all down?
