It's a MAD world
Those of us of a certain age grew up reading MAD magazine, eagerly awaiting every new issue. I didn't realize it was still in publication, but apparently it's still going strong and BoingBoing announces:
David from MAD Magazine sez, "AL JAFFEE IS TURNING 90! On March 13, long-time MAD writer/artist, creator of the Fold-In and Snappy Answers, and accused (but never convicted!) shoplifter Al Jaffee is going to be 90 freakin' years old! To celebrate, we're asking all fans (and enemies) to send in letters, cards, poems, drawings, paintings, sculptures, operettas, WHATEVER -- so we can pass the love straight to Al! The sky's the limit! You can send your birthday wishes to: The Big Jaffee c/o MAD Magazine 1700 Broadway NY , NY 10019. The deadline is March 1st -- so get crackin'!"I always loved the fold-ins. They were one of my favorite features.

Holy potrzebie!
LOL Fogg. Astounding isn't it?
What ever happened to Don Martin?
You know why its a MAD world? Cause, I'm always mad at it, that why!
LOL Octopus. I was thinking something similar when I wrote that title.
Spy vs Spy anyone?
Spy v. Spy was also one of my all time favorite features.
Prohias died in '98 and he's now buried down here in Miami. He was of greater import than his MAD career would suggest. He did several strips in Cuba that made him persona non grata. He used to lampoon Batista, but soon turned against Castro and fled here a day or two before Fidel closed down the press. Probably saved his skin.
Funny to feel nostalgic for the Cold War. . . sigh.
I had no idea Fogg. How interesting.
