Air Force One flyover photo released

No surprise here. Louis Caldera, director of the White House Military Office resigned today. He was the one who authorized this stupid flyover photo-op in NYC a couple of weeks ago. And an important point came out of the White House review.
Mr. Messina, in his memorandum to the president, said that “structural and organizational ambiguities” in the White House Military Office led to a series of miscommunications and senior aides to the president were not advised of the flyover that had been in the planning stages since March.
I suppose if he had been working for Bush he would have got a slap on the back and a heckva job Louie, but it was nice of Obama to let him resign instead of being fired. And the real hell of it is, it's a such lousy photograph. [photo NYT, via BuzzFlash]

It stands out as a prank, though. Obama should have just said to Bloomberg, "Dude, you have just been so PUNKED!!!"

"And, like, you other 7,000,000 dudes, too."

"AWESOME!"

"Let's go make the Golden Gate Bridge shake like a mofo! Muahaha!"

It is unfortunate that he had to lose his job but anytime there is such a gross lack of judgement it is the only alternative.

It's nice to see him step up to the plate and take responsibility. This will help him as he transitions to another opportunity.

I don't know if it will help him get another job, but it is good to see accountability for mistakes again.

I dunno. It seems unfair to all the other idiots in charge of deploying military hardware. They coulda been shot for a stunt like this.

Look for a new military affairs commentator on Fuxsnooze. An especially angry one.
