Obligatory Blagojevich post

I suppose you've heard by now that Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich was arrested today for breathtaking corruption, even by Chicago standards. Surprisingly, wingnuts are avoiding the story so far outside of a couple of half-hearted attempts to somehow taint Obama with it.

That won't be easy since he's covered by Blago in the tapes.
In a conversation with Harris on November 11, the charges state, Blagojevich said he knew that the President-elect wanted Senate Candidate 1 for the open seat but “they’re not willing to give me anything except appreciation. [Expletive] them.”
I'm thinking the other reason the wingers are ignoring it is Fitzgerald is the indicter, and they would have to say something good about him. After their wholesale efforts to smear him during the Plame case, I suppose that would too much even for their high levels of tolerance for cognitive dissonance.

Good riddance in any event. Blago is a thug, is obviously stupid and probably insane if the rumor is true that he was planning to appoint someone anyway, out of spite, in the next few hours.

I spent 48 years in Illinois and that included three governors sent to jail and one Sec or State in whose closet they found millions in small unmarked bills after he died. There was at least one other governor whom I think should have joined them.

No surprises here. Illinois votes along ethic and class lines and apparently admires people who lie, cheat and steal as long as they have working class roots. Coming from Eastern Europe and alleging class loyalty won him the office - and of course the promise to clean things up. How's that for ironovich?

LOL. I've heard the corruption there is legendary. I hadn't realized it rose to such a high level.

Blagojevich is an ass. I'm surprised that it took them this long to corner that moron.

He does seem to be either really crazy, really stupid or both. It is a bit surprising that it took them this long to build a case.
