And if you think that's nuts. . .

By Capt. Fogg

What about the idea that the Ruling Class in America is "liberal" and the middle class is Republican and the former is out to destroy the latter by raising gasoline prices. That's one crepuscular thesis amongst a large cesspool of murky lies posted at Human Events. It begins by telling us we will think this is right out of Science Fiction and it is, if you don't know the difference between science and hate based lies.

As Ecophotos points out in the comments section of my previous post:
"Republican middle class? You mean the Republican middle class that pays 15% taxes on earnings in excess of $1m/year, while the Democrat middle class pays 34% on income below $200k? Oh, that is very slick."
It is indeed, but the average Joe develops his opinions the way one sets up a chessboard; by using pieces provided by others: the rigged memes, and shady shibboleths of the rabid Right.

$11 a gallon gasoline won't hurt "limousine Liberals" (you'd think they would run out of straw) but it will hurt the "republican middle class." Funny that anyone would think the country is "ruled by Liberals" seeing the monolithic, one party system of the last 7 years, but then, if MLK can be a Republican, Cheney, who said conservation is unamerican, can be a Democrat and OPEC too. The Democrats, you see, are divided into two straw filled scarecrows: the poor and the "limousine" types. The poor, they say won't be hurt by outrageous fuel costs - as long as they don't eat, heat their houses or go to work. The Limo types, like me, don't mind. I beg to differ, but it won't do any good as long as I'm being shouted down by straw men.

Yes, it's all the fault of the "enviros" who insist that nuclear power plants should be safe and not built on fault lines or upwind of major metropolitan areas - those gremlins who won't let American oil reserves in Alaska be sold to the multinational oil cartel while huge oilfields already leased go undrilled. It was the Democrats who killed public transportation after all - Eisenhower and the board of GM were democrats you know.

In fact, if this article is a manhole into the sewer of Republican propaganda, I'll leave it to you to tally up the lies, distortions and the utter madness. It's not so much that it turns my stomach, but that I just can't stand not being violent any more.

Latest bulletin:

During his recent trip to Colombia and Mexico, Senator John McCain held secret talks with major drug warlords south of the border ... promising open access to U.S. markets and an end to so-called "Drug Free Zones" near schools and churches.

"Free trade is an engine for job growth and good for the economy," he said.

Surely Senator McCain is aware of one of our most cherished Internet traditions.

But that's because he's a Democrat.

And Obama can't be a Democrat either, since he doesn't really exist at all without an GOP certified birth certificate.

Breaking news:

Senator McCain favors economic and military aid in support of President Robert Mugabe, citing this speech by former President Ronald Reagan on this day, July 7th, 1981:

In the period that has elapsed since the last Report to Congress on Zimbabwe, the country has continued to gain political and economic momentum in an atmosphere that can be characterized as both dynamic and stable.

The overwhelming response from Western donor nations and international organizations at the March Donors' Conference, which resulted in $2 billion pledged over the next three to five years, will allow the government to move forward immediately with its economic development program and its plans for reconstruction and land resettlement. The success of the conference vindicated Prime Minister Mugabe's decision to turn to the West for economic and political support and allows the West to play a role in the emerging political/economic structure.

Way to go, John.
