Tim Russert dead of heart attack
By Libby
Shocking. Tim Russert died of an apparent heart attack while on the job this afternoon. He was only 58 years old. MSNBC has a bio of some of his accomplishments and The Caucus collected some additional initial reaction.
I really don't know what to say at the moment except rest in peace and my condolences to his family and friends.

I know about not speaking ill of the dead, but Google News is tearfully hosting Russert's ascension to sainthood. Journalism becomes a much simpler exercise when objectivity gets thrown out the window.
Tim Russert was as much a part of the "American viewing family" as few past greats have been (e.g., Ed Sullivan, Edwin Newman, and Charles Kerault?) A huge and intelligent part of our national TV tradition (Sunday-mornings-with-Tim-Russert) will be missed by millions of American families.
We are but one. Our deepest sympathies to Tim's family and many close colleagues and interviewees, coping with the sudden shock of his passing from us -- ever so abruptly.

Bruce, I haven't been able to write about it because I don't have anything good to say about him. I barely watched him. I hated his work that I did see but I don't want to write anything negative too soon out of respect for his friends and family whom I'm sure are feeling pain for their loss.
