GOP lie of the day - Cuban oil

It would seem Republicans are simply incapable of telling the truth, about anything. Even worse, they think they can get away with easily refutable lies.

It would seem Republicans are simply incapable of telling the truth, about anything. Even worse, they think they can get away with easily refutable lies.
WASHINGTON -- With gas topping $4 a gallon, some Republicans are pointing to Cuba once again to bolster their case that the U.S. should be drilling along Florida's coastline. And you can be damn sure the newspaper published them verbatim with no opposing view even though it's such a stupid lie. With our satelite capacity, is it even conceivable anyone could be drilling offshore without detection? How do they do it? With cloaking devices?
The claim: China has Cuban leases to drill for oil -- miles from the Florida shore.
Even Vice President Dick Cheney got into the mix Wednesday, telling the U.S. Chamber of Commerce that ``oil is being drilled right now 60 miles off the coast of Florida. We're not doing it. The Chinese are in cooperation with the Cuban government.
''Even the communists have figured out that a good answer to high prices is more supply,'' he added. ``Yet Congress has said . . . no to drilling off Florida.''
But industry experts and other observers say there is zero evidence that China is drilling in Cuban waters, and doesn't even hold a lease to drill offshore.
''China is not drilling in Cuba's Gulf of Mexico waters, period,'' said Jorge PiƱon, an energy expert at the University of Miami's Center for Hemispheric Policy.
Rising gas prices are prompting renewed efforts to open Florida waters to drilling, and the specter of oil-thirsty China slurping up nearby reserves is helping to fuel the push: In recent days, House Republican leaders have penned newspaper opinion pieces making the claim.

They just make it up as they go along, like blaming OPEC for the high prices when it's the bricklike dollar and speculation that's causing us to tear our hair out. They're absolutely addicted to lying, it's automatic, they can't help it, the poor dears.
And why shouldn't they lie? their supporters don't give a damn whether it's true or not as long as it enables them to get their outrage fix. They will simply believe it the way they believe Obama is a Muslim.
How can you credit anyone with intelligence in the first place when their energy policy is to use it up faster?
You say you've taken a pay cut Buckey? Say you're having a hard time paying bills and you don't have the skills to support your life style any more? Why then, be conservative and dip into the retirement funds, take out some more loans, buy another Hummer and it will all work out in the end.
The lies are so obvious, I'm continually astounded that anyone can be dumb enough to buy them.
I'm not. I'm just amused at how the rhetoric jumps from one bogeyman to the next and at how people can believe the oil companies actually want lower prices.
The US doesn't drill for oil - multinational oil companies do and they sell it to anyone with the bucks. No matter what you hear about "the enviros," the oil companies don't necessarily want to build more refineries since it simply would reduce their profits and the price of oil and because refining is a fairly low profit enterprise.
What would an industry making all time record profits want with lower oil prices?
Oh by the way - remember that secret meeting Oilman Cheney had with the secret gang to discuss the secret future of energy in the US? Still wonder why he fought to keep it secret -- and won?
I've never wondered why Cheney kept that a secret. It was clear as day, they were plotting to destroy us for their own benefit.
Cheney's office retracted his "misstatement" today but you notice how the execrable MSM never, ever call it a lie?
