Obama winning in Wyoming

By Libby Spencer

Jeralyn says it's a closed caucus. Clinton's people tell me that closed primaries are the only fair way to pick a nominee.

CNN's latest numbers showed Obama winning by 19 points with 78% reporting, down from 21 points when I first checked just before Blogger glitched out for a few hours.

The first Clinton partisan I just read says the system is still unfair to his candidate. Can't disagree with that. It's always been unfair for every candidate that's not handpicked by the party machine. Too bad no one complians until it's their candidate that's losing because of it.

As far as I'm concerned, we all lose in this process but it's been around for a long time. Maybe this year somebody will do something about changing it after the election, so we can a new system next time that doesn't hinge on winning just a handful of states.

In the meantime we need to play the game under the established rules. Oddly, in a way I think this contest has been the most fair in decades because at least every vote still counts for something. It's just not clear for what.
