Actually, this worries me.
Actually, this worries me.
Among all Americans, 19% approve of the way Bush is handling his job as president and 77% disapprove. When it comes to Bush's handling of the economy, 14% approve and 79% disapprove. With Bush, you always have to wonder how he's going to react to rejection. Usually he like to start a war or something.
Among Americans registered to vote, 18% approve of the way Bush is handling his job as president and 78% disapprove. When it comes to the way Bush is handling the economy, 15% of registered voters approve of the way Bush is handling the economy and 79% disapprove.

I get your point, but this poll is an outlier. There's no other polls even around it.
I don't know if this is one of those Zogby interactive polls that that has been blasted by all the other polling guys, but he has not distinguished himself lately with his primary polling.
I don't believe in polls much at all Mike, but thought this one was striking enough to mention. It might put a bit of crimp in McCain's plan to have George stump for him, no?
I sometimes include shock polls as well.
I think Bush will fundraise (successfully) the way Cheney did for Bush in 2004, but be largely absent from the trail.
The interesting question is how do they handle him at the convention?
I have some suggestions about how to handle him, but then "we don't torture" do we?
No matter how accurate the poll, no President since perhaps George Washington has won with the reciprocal of Bush's ratings. He's extremely unpopular and his party may be as unpopular as it was after Nixon squirmed out of Washington.
Of course the GOP tried to pretend that Nixon, with his non-existent "silent majority" wasn't a cheap, chiseling crook, liar and anti-Semite, just as they continue to pretend they still are in the majority. What with the support they have given Giggling George all these years and what with McCain's continued support of war and more war, do you really think they can disassociate themselves from Bush's failed policies?
I think you're both right. Bush will raise some cash but won't be any help on the trail.
Interesting question on the convention. Don't they kind of have to give him a keynote speech? I can't remember what they did with other disgraced presidents.
