I remember...
By Libby
The first day that CNN came on the air. It felt like a breath of fresh air in a stale news enviroment. Unfiltered news 24/7. A permanent fix for a news junkie. I mainlined it daily. Now it feels like one more noxious gust of intellectual pollution. I rarely tune it in.
Sad.

The BEEB and PBS are about all that is left. Desert island, anyone?
PBS isn't what it used to be either but BBC is still good. I just figured out that I get it on my TV.
Libby, I thought you might find this interesting. Here is a sampling of the latest gender equality rankings from The World Economic Forum (just released today):
1 – Sweden
2 – Norway
3 – Finland
7 – Germany
6 – Philippines
11 – Britain
31 – United States
With respect to the USA, it seems rhetoric is louder than action, like everything else going on these days.
Tell you the truth SC, I'm a lousy feminist. Gender issues don't concern me much. It's just a fact of life.
But the stats are interesting. Thanks.
Libby, I follow gender issues because I raised 3 daughters. Legal and social issues that impact their lives as women are of concern to me. In addition, I see gender equality, freedom to choose, and gay rights as part of the liberal social agenda, and I regard myself as decidedly liberal.
There are young, feminist bloggists whom I admire for their brilliance and edginess, like Bean (at LGM), Lindsay (from Majikthise), among others. Supporting their forums is also a form of mentoring.
Yeah, that's the other reason I don't post on feminist issues. Because there's already a core group of bloggers that do it so well, I don't see the point of just adding to the chorus.
