When wingnuts eat their own

I didn't really follow the Michael Ware kerfluffle but I did catch a whiff of overwrought indignation among the ususal wingnuts over his allegedly having heckled McCain. It turns out while they're bashing Ware's credibility, the whole heckling thing was invented by anonymous fruitcake that got the better of Drudge and Ware is actually on their side. He agrees with every misguided thing they say.

Digby has the story and the quotes and also gets the quote of the day for his own closer.
The wingnuts are confused, I'm sure, if they saw today's exchange. Here you have a reporter who says (as he's always said) that the Democratic proposals to withdraw from Iraq will play into the hands of al Qaeda and yet he is the number one enemy of the rightwing that felt the need to jump to the defense of an addled, factually challenged candidate they don't even like, simply out of reflexive tribal loyalty. It's quite an illustration of why these people can't properly govern.
I doubt if they'll stay confused for long. I expect they'll get that blank look of incomprehension in their eyes for a moment, shake their heads, move on to the next pseudo-scandal and never mention Ware again.

I saw Ware on CNN last night and was honestly pretty shocked at how closely his opinions mirrored the neo cons. "showing weakness" that sort of thing. In fact jeff jacoby had written a column saying essentially the same things and I had made fun of him mercilessly. now i feel stupid.

It's not stupid to make a mistake Lester. It's just human. Stupid is when you won't admit it.
