Picture this...

Sorry folks, I never got back to blogging today because I spent the last six hours taking picture of myself. I don't have the energy to crosspost it, so if you want to know why I've engaged in this orgy of reluctant narcissim, the details are here.

Okay okay did you get my URL click this then click that fix about the Spelling Test?

This woman's autobio claims that she's one of American electrojournalism's pioneers, and she programs in Perl, but she couldn't do a link right.

Then scroll down and click on:
A SPELLING TEST

You'd think that you just get better and better at spelling, but these are all the words whose right spellings just absolutely resist being permanently engraved on your neurons. If you're lucky, some of them tingle a neuron so it says

SUSPICIOUS
CONSULT PHYSICAL DICTIONARY

But that's not very reliable.

I never use Spell Check. I'm convinced that's the Fast Track to a new kind of illiteracy, where we let Our Silicon Friends educate us. Badly. When I realize I misspelled something, I feel bad. Spell Check feels exactly the same (nothing) when it spells something right or it spells it wrong.

Computerized book indices are also pathetic howlers.

A computer chess program feel exactly the same when it defeats Gary Kasparov or gets demolished by Gary Kasparov.

Sorry to go offtrack, but I read your post about media bias at Peter Daou's site. Here's proof the media, as a whole, is biased.

I don't know about The Media As A Whole. I only experienced The Media as an individual human being. I don't even know what "The media as a whole is biased" means, and I suspect the phrase has no meaning whatsoever. It's just 7 words that look as if they have meaning.

I was as unbiased as it's humanly possible to be and took enormous pride in that goal.

Is Anonymous (pls note My Name is posted to this) advocating a New Media conducted entirely by robots and computers? That doesn't seem like much Fun; robots can't get drunk after deadline.

Who will program the New Robot Journalists? Other Robots?

Anonymous forgot to mention in which direction he/she/it believes the Media is biased. Liberal? Conservative? If Liberal, the antidote certainly must be Fox News.
