Miers nomination pre-emptive strike against Plamegate revelations?
Here's an interesting theory I hadn't thought of myself. Since the more balanced SCOTUS in Nixon's day ordered the release of the Watergate tapes, the Rovian right need a ringer on the court to make sure they rule on the side of executive privilege this time when the inevitable requests for documents come in the court cases born of Fitzgerald's investigation.
Makes sense to me. Why else would he make such potentially contentious nomination?
