Bush picks his toady for SCOTUS

I don't have a brainy analysis of Harriet Miers. I'm not a constitutional scholar and from all indications neither is she. Luckily, Blogtopia is rife with informative posts this morning. Start with the Heretik who always rounds up the best links in addition to his own wry view, stop by at Pam's place for the Freeper reaction and get the legal POV at Talk Left where Last Night in Little Rock sums it up in one sentence.
Being a real lawyer, however, would be a help.
Meanwhile, Wonkette is dishing the real dirt on this appointment. It appears Harriet's main qualifications for the job, outside of dry cleaning our Misleader in Chief's dirty laundry, has been in an on and off dating relationship with a Texas Supreme Court judge, she never forgets a birthday and she is so dull that no one has paid enough attention to her, until now, for a paper trail to have developed.

Her most important qualification seems to be that she thinks the W is the most brilliant man she has ever known. I'd say that alone puts her judgment into question. If the Dems don't come out and fight this one, I'm done with them for good. Let the bloody Christian right extremists have the country. I swear, I'm outta here. Call me when the rapture comes and takes them all away to heaven and leaves what will be left of the planet to us sinners.

It's not just the Dems that need to come out and fight this one. From what I'm reading, there are a fair number of Repubs equally unhappy with this administration.

Well, THEY have the power. What are THEY waiting for? If THEY can't control the extremists within their own party, then we're ALL doomed.
