Conyers calls for Accountability

This news just cheers me up immensely. While Kerry made some wimpy remarks at a couple of local appearances in Mass but failed to actually bring it to the floor of the Senate and Ted Kennedy trailed in behind, John Conyers leads in the House. With ( currently 241,000 (and counting) signatures on his letter), he has courageously called for accountability from the White House.

Raw Story reports Conyers, being "ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, has scheduled hearings on the 2002 minutes between senior British and American officials which asserted that intelligence was 'being fixed' to support the case for war in Iraq."
The hearings, which will be held next Thursday, will bring renewed attention to what is being called the "Downing Street memo," actually official minutes of a secret 2002 meeting.
Emphasis is mine. It was a mistake to be calling it "The Memo," when these are actual minutes, same as the secretary of any group might take in a meeting. It's a recital of events, not a personal opinion. I can hardly wait for Thursday.
Conyers office has revealed that they will introduce new documents that corroborate the Downing Street Memo Minutes at the hearings June 16.
Thanks to Shakespeare's Sister, who has further details, for the tip.
