Deep Throat and sour grapes

I didn't remember this. Mark Felt may have done us all a big favor by helping the WaPo take down Nixon but in the rush to canonize the guy, no one but Doug Ireland of Direland seems to have remembered that Felt was also in charge of one of the worst civil-rights violating government programs in my lifetime - COINTELPRO. That would explain his motivation to take down the Nixon White House.

After "being a good German" and doing all that fine spying and committing other dirty tricks against an estimated 500,000 American citizens opposed to Nixon's policies, he was passed over for the number one spot at the FBI. He did it because he was simply pissed off that he didn't get the job.
