Pay no attention to the powderkeg about to explode in Pakistan

By Libby

The world is riveted by the ongoing debable in Pakistan and wondering what horror may arise from the impossible mess there and so why are the fringenuts talking about Chavez? I would suppose to take the focus off Pakistan. It's the, "oh look -- a shiny object" strategy. Pakistan is making our Madman in Chief look bad so they start bitching about fascism in Venezuela. Like people who think it's horrible to have to pay taxes for an American kid's health care really give a flying leap about the Venezuelan people.

Insty jumped in with an extraordinarily obtuse post, which I would have answered myself but James Joyner already said what I was thinking. Hard to believe a college professor can't figure out for himself which situation is of more concern to our country's safety.

A large contingent of the 108th Airborne from Fort Bragg, NC, is currently conducting exercises in Honduras. Nothing unusual about this to the extent that Reagan dispatched the 108th to Honduras during the Sandinista years.

The 108th is there now, and it is a large force, I am told. So what does a bogus POTUS do when all other foreign policy initiatives are blowing up in his face?

Seek a cheap and easy victory to redeem himself. Take out a dictator. Well, not quite a full-fledged dictator, but a rising one is as good as a real one, especially one from an oil-producing country. One who courts Almandine-Jihad and disses the USA.

It is easy to invoke the Monroe Doctrine. It has a certain historical cache and passes the smell test. Pat Robertson would certainly approve and grant to Bush-in Heaven at least 70 virgins over the objections of wife, Laura. The question is not when?

The question is: Where the hell is Jimmy the Greek to take my bet.

It's been clear to me that Bush would like to take Chavez out for a long time now. He just hasn't been able to drum up a good enough reason.

Sorry Lester, it's too early for me to read wingnutdaily. Maybe after another cup of coffee.

it's amazing. no matter how many times you tell a democrat about pat buchanan and how much he knows about the world it just goes in one ear and out the other. he's more anti war than anyone on your side, but I guess that 's what you don't like about him. after all, brave bill clinton bombed all those mean people and made the demcrats feel all macho. You love violence if it's done by your party. whatever.
it's a combination of ignorance and jealousy

How do you figure it's a slight Lester? Am I supposed to agree with everything you say in order to avoid offending you?

sorry. i can't respond to your wacked out hippy communism. it's too early. dealing with you is a chore that requires work. that's what you are saying to me

Lester. I don't think that's a fair characterization of what I said. I didn't say it was a chore, I said I wasn't awake enough to deal with reading anything heavy that might upset me. Obviously you don't suffer from morning inertia. I do.

But that aside, I don't find it offensive if you feel that way about my posts. I don't expect anyone to agree with me all the time and I respect that people don't always have the time to pay attention to everything I think or may want to ignore what I say altogether. It's a free country. I don't take it personally.

you must be real proud of your party these days. of course it has NOTHING to do with the fact that spending as a solution to every problem is a bad policy and ladling out pork isn't the way to win elections. it's just THESE current democrats.

face it, Clinton was an anomoly. the government really is the problem

Let it go Lester. You know damn well I'm not proud of the Dems. I resigned their party weeks ago.
