Franken Shuts Down Lieberman

Have to say there's something that just feels right about hearing people call Sen. Franken -- Mr. President. But even better is watching him essentially tell HoJo to STFU.

Gotta love it. And the counterpoint of Old Man McCain whining about comity, after the whole country has been watching his party behave like elementary school hooligans in a cafeteria food fight for weeks on end is rather priceless too. [Via]

U.S. Senator Al Franken. I still love saying those words.

McCain's fake outrage looks pretty silly, doesn't it?

OH! I just found this jem, care of @PWire:

(Political Wire)

When Sen. Al Franken objected to Sen. Joe Lieberman's request for additional time, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) said that in his 20-plus years in the Senate he had never heard a senator do that before.

However, a Political Wire reader sends this excerpt from the Congressional Record from October 10, 2002:

The PRESIDING OFFICER. The Senator's time has expired.

Mr. DAYTON. I ask for unanimous consent that I have 30 seconds more to finish my remarks.

Mr. McCAIN. I object.

Classy.

So much for "unprecedented"

So much for any traces of character, integrity, honor, honesty, decency in McCain or his goddamned party.

McCain is just a pathetic old geezer with no remaining relevance outside of his fan club in the media.

I also saw another post somewhere that said that rule was enforced earlier in the day on orders of Reid in order to keep the business moving along. It's just ridiculous.

The saddest thing to me is that no matter how many times the Republicans do something and no matter how many times you show that they did, they'll still make so much out of anyone else doing it and their side won't flinch. They'll just go on snickering about Franken.

Truly, they have no shame and they do have a ton of hubris. While I certainly wouldn't want the Dems to be just like them, it would be nice if they learned a little bit about tactics from them.

Especially since they're nominally in the majority.
