This scares me on a multitude of levels.

It should surprise no one that in this day and age someone has been able to do an exhaustive Web search of all things George Sodini -- the killer of three women, and himself, in Pittsburgh last night. Here it is, including YouTube video of his house and his ammunition purchases, plus Google searches.Source material at the link.

What scares me is not that 3 or 4 people out of a 300 million are kinda nuts, but that we will try to address a relatively small danger by more random acts of gun control and ignore the reasons for the increasing rage, unemployment and hopelessness.
Thousands and thousands die of liver failure caused by acetominiphen but we aren't afraid nor do we give each death 100 uninterrupted media coverage.
No news organization will point out that relying on police protection in such events is futile.
What sacred me most was how easy it was for some random stranger to come up with all that info on google. Privacy is well and truly dead if you do anything on line.
That's certainly true and of course the tools available to the government are far more powerful than Google.
What I'm saying though is that if he had killed three people by committing arson, or by deliberately driving the wrong way down the highway you wouldn't know about it. Monday morning some loony teenager killed himself and two others by apparently driving into a huge construction bulldozer at 90 mph. You didn't hear about it, but any shooting gets headlines if it involves more than one victim. Pro and con, the country is obsessed with guns.
Well that true. The US has an obsession with guns that you don't see in other countries. ANd I do also worry that this sort of thing gives anti-gunownership zealots too much ammo, if you'll pardon the pun.
