Drunk with power

This should be an interesting party. President Obama is hosting 22 Congressional leaders at a little reception at the White House tonight. The guest list is equally divided between Dems and GOPers, including the usual suspects like Reid, Pelosi, McConnell, Cornyn and Boehner.

The cocktail chatter ought to be very interesting coming on the heels of today's expected vote on the stimulus bill. And who knows? Maybe an evening of free booze will foster that elusive bi-partisan spirit where appeals to higher ideals have failed.

i was at a guy's house once when his wife's ex husband came by to drop off their child after a weekend visit.there were few good feelings among these folks but this guy invites ex-husband to stay for dinner. the ex begged off and later i asked the guy why he invited him when there were such obvious bad vibes...he said " i like the conflict"...could be obama is up to the same tonight.

Watch and learn from President Obama. What comes out of this dinner and other dinners is Obama's reachingf acroos the aisle. He knows thes eguys won't do anything in the realm of bipartisan cooperation. Thus they fall into his trap. Look for anithe rload of "obstructionist republicans" to get booted in 2010. Obama is using the same rope a dope the right uses on evangelicals. Enjoy the show and how it unfolds.

If I had to be in the same room with those people I'd be drinking, too.

LOL Fogg, a distinct possibility.

Truth, I worry Obama is falling for the fake out, but I keep reminding myself that he's proved me wrong when I've doubted him before.

SoBeale, so nice to see you here. LOL. I'd need to be drinking too to spend more than 5 minutes in that crowd.
