Happy Independence Day
By Libby
Have a safe and happy holiday everyone. Don't drink and drive and remember what this holiday is really about. Support your local rabble rousers.
Update: And fly your flag proudly, as Fogg will do today, not in support of our wrongheaded leaders or their misbegotten policies, but in defiance of power. Brilliant post. Read the whole thing.

I plan to actually fly the flag today - if it ever stops raining. Not because I support George, but because I don't. Complicated logic, but I spell it out in Human Voices today.
I plan on joining all the local rabble rousers and red necks in the town park for this evening's fireworks if it doesn't rain. Hope everyone enjoys a safe holiday.
Light a firecracker for Jesse and hope it blows his cracker soul straight to hell.
I firmly believe the flag has nothing to do with George Bush. I fly it because it represents everything he and his administration is not.
My country 'tis of thee, sweet land of Liberty. Of thee I sing.
I wish I had one of those "don't tread on me" flags - it expresses my sentiments rather well.
From my balcony last night, I saw fireworks from at least four nearby communities. No noise, just lighted mushrooms blooming on the horizon. The countryside appeared to be at war with itself.
I don't think flying that flag shows support of Bush. I would have flown if I had one.
SC, that's very cool. That's my favorite way to see fireworks. I don't care much for the noise. I just the colors and it's really cool when you can see a lot of them like that. That's happened to me a couple of times. Loved it.
