Bombs, Bibles and Bullshit
by Capt. Fogg
I'm not surprised at Zogby's poll results. I remember back in the dark days of the Cold War when the University I attended had a symposium on US - Soviet relations and invited the local townspeople to attend. The consensus amongst the patriotic townies was that we should "bomb them back to the Stone Age." That was then, they're just as stupid now.
According to Zogby International, a recent phone poll shows that 52% of Americans favor the bombing of Iran. Amongst the Republicans the number is 71%. A minority of independents and Democrats favor such actions but overall, only 29% of us oppose it.
I'm quite sure that if Bush actually leaves the White House and if the Republicans lose the next election, the scorched earth left behind will include a bombed Iran. This perception serves to and may be designed to frighten voters into supporting whomever they dredge out of the barrel of slime to run against Hillary Clinton. Of course we will get fooled again - and again. We're Americans.

They've created the general perception that this is a wise course of action. It's that perception that this poll is based on, not any knowledge of Iran.
Just another example of the dumbind down of Americans. Surely those of us that still have more than two brain cells see the ultimate consequences of unrestrained war mongering. Putin has a stronghold in Russia and the cold war is back, the Middle East can only be further destabilized by more American interference resulting in oil shortages and ever higher fuel prices, I could go on but this is supposed to be a comment. I think there are many Americans out here that can still think for themselves but they don't answer unsolicited phone calls.
That's true Lester - that's why it's scary. We're happy to blame 9/11 on the Iranians and we will believe the liars in government even when they're always wrong.
The constant whining that they're supplying weapons to kill our people doesn't ring true and even if it did, we don't expect Turkey to nuke us because we're supplying weapons to the PKK but we expect Iran to forget that we supplied WMD's to Iraq to kill Iranians.
We supply weapons to almost everybody.
