Destination Dubai
I'm of an age where I've started thinking about retirement and I'm pretty sure I don't want to spend my golden years in America, at least not full time. I'm thinking I need a nice beach with palm trees somewhere and so I've been exploring my choices around the globe. I stumbled across this company, dubailand and I thought - why not Dubai? The beach certainly looks good.
It has some other pluses. It's the second largest emirate of the United Arab Emirates after Abu Dhabi. Dubai is distinct from other members of the UAE in that revenues from oil account for only 6% of its gross domestic product. This is a good thing. It's likely it won't become embroiled in the oil wars that plague the region. More importantly, it's hot all year round and has virtually no income tax.
And I kind of like the way the Crown Prince thinks. Sheikh Mohammed once commented, "I do not know if I am a good leader, but I am a leader. And I have a vision. I look to the future, 20, 30 years." It would seem his vision is to turn it into a tourist mecca.
It appears dubailand is in charge of making that vision a reality. The site does make investment look attractive. I loved looking at the renderings of the future apartments on their manmade island and their Disneyesque mainland properties. With studios starting at about $100,000U.S., I'm adding Dubai on my list of possibilities.

dubai has like 7 star hotels. Neil Bush actually divorced his wife over the phone from his dubai hotel room because of the insane amneties offered there.
LOL Lester. I doubt it was the hotel amenities that convinced him to divorce her but it looks like an interesting place to me. I certainly like to visit and see for myself.
I expect they must have some hotels for poor people as well.
Yes, Dubai has such great investment opportunity. I have purchased an apartment at Oasis Tower 2 at Dubai Sports City from www.findmeapropertyindubai.com where I have 8% rental guarantee for this Dubai Serviced Apartment.
