Progressive radio host drummed out of AFR

This is interesting. Armed Forces Radio, the overseas military station runs the right's own Tokoyo Rose, Rush Limbaugh for an hour, a day I assume. They were supposed to start running progressive Ed Schultz today. At 6:00 this morning the producer got a call saying the gig was cancelled.

It appears Pentagon communications aide Allison Barber, (the same aide caught preparing the "spontaneous guests" for their remarks at the "not staged" teleconference last week) didn't like his promo for the opening day.
Schultz’s show Friday began with audio outtakes of Barber sounding foolish as she rehearsed the troops “Q&A session” with Bush.

This is exactly why blogs continue to grow in popularity. In many cases, the media is being consolidated and controlled by partisans and the government seeks to censor and control the message too.

It's kind of spooky, but in the popular "Left Behind" series the world government (headed by Nicolai Carpathian - the devil) controls all media and messages. The faithful Christians who live underground and refuse to give the devil their allegiance communicate through weblogs in order to learn the truth.

Weblogs cover thousands of topics and beliefs, but the one thing they all share is the freedom to speak one's mind without outside controls being placed on them. I believe that's one of the reasons people find them so appealing.

Here's the latest update on the Pentagon's censorship of Ed Schultz. What's the expression? What's good for the goose is good for the gander?

Way to go Wes Clark! Did the Bush administration really think they could slip one by an old military guy?
