Blackwater Owner in Hot Water with Feds

Oh, please, please benevolent spirits let this be true. I would so love to have lived to see this guy's karma come back to kick him in the butt.

A former Blackwater employee and an ex-US Marine who has worked as a security operative for the company have made a series of explosive allegations in sworn statements filed on August 3 in federal court in Virginia. The two men claim that the company's owner, Erik Prince, may have murdered or facilitated the murder of individuals who were cooperating with federal authorities investigating the company. The former employee also alleges that Prince "views himself as a Christian crusader tasked with eliminating Muslims and the Islamic faith from the globe," and that Prince's companies "encouraged and rewarded the destruction of Iraqi life."

In their testimony, both men also allege that Blackwater was smuggling weapons into Iraq. One of the men alleges that Prince turned a profit by transporting "illegal" or "unlawful" weapons into the country on Prince's private planes. They also charge that Prince and other Blackwater executives destroyed incriminating videos, emails and other documents and have intentionally deceived the US State Department and other federal agencies.
It's not exactly confirmed yet but there's many more details at the link.

Of all the evils spawned from the ill begotten Iraq debacle, the rise of the Blackwater was probably the worst. Prince's army of homicidal mercenaries was, and remains, one of the greatest threats to civil society, both here and all over the world. I would love to see that place shut down. This could do it.

Also needing to be booted off the cliff for profiteering: Halliburton & company. American lives were given to shore up their bottom line, giving new meaning to bottom feeding.

It's been brought up a lot, but Roosevelt said he didn't want one millionaire created by WW II. Of course there were more than one, but many billionaires have been and continue to be made by Bushwar II -- which by the way has now cost us about as much. I think this is the first war we've had where the presidents (and Vice Persident's) family have made millions from it.

But of course investigating Blackwater is not only unChristian, but it's excessive government interference in private lives.

Ruth, How are you feeling? Hope the break is helping and that it turns out to be just a hiatus. And if I live to see Halliburton get its karmic due, I could die in bliss.

And Fogg, I'm thinking they actually made billions, not millions. They should all be rotting in jail for profiteering, but I'm not holding my breath for that.
