Hungry
Some days I just despair for the future of my progeny. Are we so far gone as a society to find it acceptable to watch our elderly and disabled slide into abject poverty while casino capitalists on Wall Street are raking in billions of nearly tax free winnings and corporate CEOs make 475 times more than their workers, who have reached the human capacity for increased productivity while sharing none of the gains?
With House Republicans hell-bent on cutting food stamps, some Congressional Democrats believe they can strike a "compromise" in the upcoming Farm Bill by "only" taking $90/month away from 850,000 poor families. [via]And this on top of the expiring unemployment benefits for 1.3 million Americans which probably won't be renewed before John Boehner sends his House of Dysfunction home to enjoy their own comfortable holidays.

Why yes, thanks for asking. Now that the Republican party is the party of entitlement, supported by people who think they are entitled not to contribute to America, that's exactly the case.
You've got to admit it's fun to contemplate the power you would have as one of the very few with money in a desperately poor country. Of course you have to think nothing bad could happen to you because you're so goddamn talented and you have to be dense enough to think you can thrive in an environment of tax free capitalism when nobody's got the spondulicks to buy anything, but the Tea Party is chock full of such blockheads.
That's the Achilles heel of democracy, I guess. It depends on a sane and informed public.
It's the lack of empathy. I don't know how people can be so heartless and live with themselves. Particularly the damn crackpots in the House who rail about the War on Christmas and then go all Scrooge on the poor people. They could just pass a small extension till the spring so people could have some kind of holiday and not be cold and hungry in the winter. But no, they want to punish them for not being rich.
