He who dies with the most toys wins

Brutal travel day. Burned to a crisp. Fortunately, looks like it was slow news day too. Don't have the energy to leap into the twitter mayhem but made the usual rounds. Atrios captures the essence of the problem in one of his terse, semi-cryptic posts. Just read it. It's very short. The Galtian Overlords Don't Know What They're Doing.

Or you might say, they know exactly what they're doing in the moment, but don't understand the consequences of what they do. I see no evidence the law of diminishing returns factors into their calculations. Ever.

He seems to have noticed that Romney and the Randians don't actually know how a Capitalist economy works, but you can't expect them to factor anything into their arithmetic since they don't understand how that works either. What can you expect from people who laugh when you ask how subtracting 5 trillion from the general revenue while boosting spending won't add to the debt - and call you and your numbers "liberal."

I do hope the Mayans were right. I think it's time for a new species to dominate the planet.

I tend to agree about the Mayans, but I hope their dates are off. I would really hate it if the world ends before I get the new Hobbit movie. :)

Who knows, maybe the hobbits will take over from us after the Zombie Apocalypse.

That's a comforting thought. Maybe the elves will return too.
