Fan mail

Been a while since I've received an amusing fan mail from a DetNews reader who cared enough to track down my email addy. Rather like this one.

I must admit that your columns are among the dumbest things that I've ever read in a "major" newspaper. Will you kindly grow up?
That may be the most polite insult I've ever received. Love it.

It's easy to convince the dumbest of us that he's really smart -- stupid being in the smug confusion of the beholder.

I once had a commenter call me "ignrnt" and when I admitted my ignorance of that spelling, he condescended to tell me that's how it was spelled in "text language." I replied 'QSL AR SK 73' which is an older form of text message that translates to "message received and understood, that's all, goodbye and best wishes." I never got to demonstrate semaphore signals because he just went away.

Nothing new under the sun, you know and the arrogance of the willfully ignorant is legendary.

I usually find it more amusing than irritating. I mean, who cares what they say when they're so obviously deluded?
