Well of course the Tea Party is racist - Updated

I'm not really getting the ongoing obsession of the left with proving the Tea Party is racist. I'm sure many of these angry white people can boast they do too have black friends which proves they're not, but the racism inherent in the movement has been obvious from day one. I think the point has been well established by now so what's the point of harping on it? I mean, even if you got them to admit they have racists in their ranks, is that going to end racism? I think not. I don't think it marginalizes them as much as it solidifies their sense of shared victimhood. I certainly think it energizes them more than discourages them.

What is going to discourage them is losing at the ballot box. Although in some ways, I think they have a better success rate than liberals in primary challenges, every time they lose a race, it chips away a little at their delusion that they're a majority. Thinking they'll die out when it becomes clear that all that noise isn't really getting them anywhere. That being said, this bit from the ABC News piece is hilarious.

Harvard historian and New Yorker writer Jill Lepore said the Tea Party's mixed results in the primaries speak to the current disequilibrium in U.S. politics.

"I actually think it's not a political movement and I think it's important to recognize that," said Lepore ... "People subscribe to it essentially because of beliefs, not so much ideas but beliefs -- about the nature of the world and about the relationship between the past, the present and the future. ... In many ways it defies description."
No it doesn't. These are just a bunch of angry white people who don't really understand how the government works nor comprehend that in allowing their puppetmasters to manipulate them into misinformed outrage, they're fighting against their own self interest. [graphic via]

Update: What I was saying about energizing them? I rest my case.

Tea Party racism has been inherent since day one? Where? When? How?

Liberal case against tea party:

Tea Partiers are racist because I say so.

End argument.

BTW, it would be good if the prez could be a dictator for a few years because he could do a lot of good things quickly.

You guys are brilliant.

RightKlik, you were on a roll until the part about liberals wanting a dictator for president. Name one please.

Is the Tea Party racist? Surely many of them are.

More importantly, consider what would happen if an African-American organization acted like many prominent Tea Partiers do.

How long do you think they'd get a way with having a major black candidate propose that we need a "2nd Amendment remedy" for what is happening in Congress?

The Tea Party might not be racist, but they are a bit nuts, and the nuttiness is distorting any legitimate points they might have about the deficit and taxes.

Not that I care, they are causing the Republican Party to drift away from the center, and their candidates will actually help the Democrats retain the majority in the House this year.

Now THAT's brilliant.

Like that arm of the Democratic Party, the NAACP? They already act like they say the Tea Partiers do. In case you didn't hear, they've been implicated in lobbying the Obama DoJ for the dismissal of those guilty Black Panther racists in Philadelphia. The DoJ has already confirmed this.

The Tea Party might not be racist, but they are a bit nuts,...

Because they don't want the government to tell them what to eat, how to raise their children, what to think and say? Sounds like the Tea Partiers represent more of what America is about than any of the leftist Democrats ruining this country.

WHO is doing that, Steve? Please tell me, who is telling you what to eat, and what are they making you eat?

This is exactly the kind of nuttiness I'm talking about. Tea Partiers try to portray themselves as people simply concerned about our fiscal future, and then quickly tramp off into the woods with the crazy conspiracy theories. They march around, flying their Gadsden Flags, imaging they're part of some persecuted group while living in the heart of most free nation the world has ever known.
They're not John Adams, they're the kid who calls the local beat cop a "fascist" because he won't let him loiter in front of the 7-11.

Like that arm of the Democratic Party, the NAACP?

A really, really, bad analogy. Has a member of the NAACP called for a "2nd Amendment remedy" for Congress? Have crowds of people shown up to NAACP rallies with guns and threatening signs?

Spare me, Steve.

Kevin, I think the TP guys doth protest too much. Sure sign of feeling guilty.

I'm just not sure what good it does to point it out over and over again. Even if the leaders condemn it, it won't stop it. I'm thinking anyone who needed to be convinced already is and the ones that can't be reached won't change their minds. Seems to me our time would be better spent promoting liberal candidates than fighting bigoted trolls. But that's just me.

Are you kidding me? You have nanny-state busybodies in NY and Chicago restricting what can be put into restaurant food. You have another group of dorks suing McDonald's to force them to remove toys from Happy Meals, because the nannies say an attempt to market McDonald's to kids is somehow illegal. You have a Supreme Court nominee who couldn't answer the question about whether or not Congress has the power to regulate what Americans eat (the right answer is "no", but apparently not for Kagan). And, you now have the government requiring health records to maintain BMI (170.302(e)(2)) that can be used by other parts of the government. So don't go and tell me they aren't going to tell me what I can and must eat.

They're not John Adams, they're the kid who calls the local beat cop a "fascist" because he won't let him loiter in front of the 7-11.

The Tea Party people for the most part aren't professional protesters. You are confusing them with the loitering Code Pink whackos.

Don't listen to them Steve, Libby and Kevin are paid employees of George Soros, George Stephanopoulus and Oprah.

The truth is worse than you say, Steve, because they want to control what you put in and control how it comes out too!

Barack Hussein Obama's first choice for Surgeon General, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, believes that men reduce their chances of getting prostate cancer when they pee sitting down. If he were Surgeon General today, men would be FORBIDDEN FROM PEEING STANDING UP!

Pray for our nation.
