The Senate in an alternate world
Forgot to post a link to Annie Lowrey's piece asking, "What if senators represented people by income or race, not by state?" She makes a good case for it. It would certainly be more reflective of the "will of the people" if we did it that way.

Sorry, the Senators are elected to serve their states, and are simply not doing that, so cannot see that they would serve a demographic, either. The coathanger court decision to allow any amount of donations to elect representatives removes any remote possibility that any body they are sworn to serve will see any particle of actual service.
I'm afraid you're right Ruth. Until we break the corporatocracy, nothing will really change.
