A nation of blithering idiots

If you wonder who the constituency for far right liars is, it is people who think The Flintstones was a documentary cartoon.
Nearly a third of Texans believe humans and dinosaurs roamed the earth at the same time, and more than half disagree with the theory that humans developed from earlier species of animals, according to the University of Texas/Texas Tribune Poll.
Even more frightening, the textbook industry is largely based in Texas and it's people who believe this idiotic drivel who are writing them. As long as these lunatics are taken seriously, we really are doomed.

This poll result gives you some idea of why candidates for office in TX pander to the voter that neither knows nor cares what their own best interests might be, and can't discern it when they hear it. The right wing depends on weakminded voters. Sadly, we all live with the results. And I posted on that poll, too.

I find the ignorance horrifying. Even more so that they hold onto so proudly.
